A lot of people have asked me about leather care.  I try to not sound like an advertisement for any one brand! However, I really like the whole “LEATHER THERAPY” line of care products!!

I recommend keeping your tack as clean as possible by using the LT “Wash” on a daily basis if needed. Then about 2 times a year I think it is a good idea to use the LT “leather Restorer/conditioner.”  I have found with the use of this product line my occurrence of mold has dramatically reduced!!!

It should be noted that you never want to over-oil your tack!! Especially the expensive bridles that I am selling.  Too much oiling actually voids any manufacture warrantees. It makes the leather too soft and compromises the integrity of the leather.  This is also true for any nice saddle.  A well-made saddle has been built with good leather that is already impregnated with lanolin.

When you first get your new saddle it is a good idea to put it near a heat source and gently massage in a small amount of leather conditioner.  The new saddles will feel slick and stiff at first.  A tiny bit of warm water on a sponge along with a leather conditioner is the quickest way to help break them in! Using warm water when you clean your saddles is fine!!! I sometimes use Murphy’s oil soap and fairly warm water to do a deep cleaning. I do avoid much water with the bridles and finer strap goods!  Mainly with the bridles just keep them clean! Avoid too much oil usage!

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me!!
